Unplug the floor lamp power cord from the wall outlet

Remove the shade of the floor lamp
Most every floor lamp has a nut that holds a shade on. Unscrew the nut and lift off the shade. Turn the light bulb counterclockwise and remove it from the socket.

Remove the socket
Using a flat head screw driver,apply pressure between the socket base and socket body, and pry the body out of the base.
Tripod Floor Lamp
Remove the wires
Pull the socket up and you will see the two wires that connect to the socket. Loosen the wires attached to the screws and remove the wires from the socket.

Replace the new parts
Loosen the screw that secures the socket base and insert the new wires through the bottom of the new socket base. Install the new socket by reversing the steps used to remove the old one.Finally,screw in a new light bulb and install the lamp shade back. Plug the floor lamp power cord back to test if the lamp can work as usually.
